Meeting sidekick for macOS

A little bird told me what to say.

Toldbird listens to the call on your Mac, captions what the other side says, and drafts an answer the moment you need one. On a quiet strip that is excluded from window capture.

The strip, live: Sarah’s words land as she says them, then a drafted answer with three actions. Nothing is typed or sent for you.

How it decides

Toldbird stays quiet until a turn ends with something for you to do. Then one card, never a stream.

  1. 1

    It hears both sides

Your microphone and the call’s audio are transcribed on your Mac, live. Voices on the other side are told apart, so a line reads “Sarah”, not “them”.

  2. 2

    It decides

At each turn a small model answers a few typed questions: do you need to act, what kind, how urgent. About a third of a second, no free text.

  3. 3

    It drafts

Only when the answer is yes, or you press ⌥Space for Help now. A question gets an answer, “are you free?” gets one-key booking, a claim gets a Lookup.

⌥Space
Help now, for the last thing they said
⌥↩

⌥Esc

The strip nobody else sees

The strip sits at the top right of your screen, on every Space and over full-screen apps. It never takes focus, and it is excluded from window capture, so a screen share that respects that setting shows your call without it.

What they see on the share

On macOS 15 and later some call apps capture through a newer system path that can include the strip. Check yours once with a test share; ⌥⇧S hides the strip completely.

Private by design

Transcripts stay on your Mac

Audio is transcribed on the device and saved in your Library folder. No recording or transcript is uploaded.

Only the excerpt travels

To decide and draft, Pro sends the last few lines, your brief and the question to the model through OpenRouter. Nothing else.

No voiceprints

Speakers are told apart on the Mac for the meeting at hand. Nothing about a voice is stored.

Nothing sent for you

Copy, Book, Note. Toldbird never types into the call, the chat or your email.

Questions

Does the other side know Toldbird is running?

Toldbird never joins the call and never speaks. The strip uses the macOS setting that keeps a window out of screen capture, so a shared screen shows the call without it. On macOS 15 and later some call apps capture through a newer system path that can include it: check your call app once with a test share, and press ⌥⇧S to hide the strip completely when you want to be sure.

Do I need permission to transcribe a call?

Often, yes. Some states and countries require everyone on a call to agree before it is recorded or transcribed. You are responsible for telling people and getting consent where the law where you and they are requires it.

Is my transcript uploaded?

No. Audio is transcribed on your Mac and the transcript is saved on your Mac. To decide and draft, Pro sends a short excerpt to the language model: the last few lines, your meeting brief and the question. The recording and the full transcript are never sent.

Which call apps work?

Any app on your Mac. Toldbird hears your microphone and the system audio, so a call in a desktop app and a call in the browser sound the same to it.

Does it type or send anything for me?

Never. Copy puts the draft on your clipboard, Book creates the event in your calendar, Note adds a line to the meeting’s notes. What you say is up to you.

What does a founding seat mean?

The first 50 people to reserve are offered checkout first, in the order they reserved, when Toldbird 1.0 ships. Reserving is free and commits you to nothing.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Ask within 14 days of buying the one-time purchase and we refund it in full. Pro can be cancelled at any time and stops at the end of the month you paid for.
